Vic: Bracks to ignore results of Reeves inquiry, says its fixed

Victorian Premier STEVE BRACKS says he'll ignore any adverse findings of an upper houseinquiry into the JIM REEVES affair, because he claims the probe is rigged to damage thegovernment.

The opposition parties have used their numbers in the upper house to set up the inquiryfollowing the appointment last year of Mr REEVES, a friend of the premier, to a top governmentpost.

Witnesses will appear at public hearings tomorrow.

But Mr BRACKS says the inquiry's findings will be irrelevant, as it's been set up todeliver an adverse finding.

Mr REEVES stood down as head of the state's Urban and regional Land Authority aftera furore over the circumstances of his appointment.

Mr BRACKS says as far as he's concerned, the matter is now closed.
