FIREFIGHTER CONTEST ENDS WITH BRAWL; 3 ARRESTED.(CAPITAL REGION)

Gloversville A day of athletic firefighting contests that attracted crews from across the nation and Canada ended late Saturday in a brawl at a South Main Street bar.

Police were called to Jumbalia's Restaurant and Bar at 10:45 p.m. and found about 25 people fighting at a party celebrating the winners of the Firefighter Combat Challenge, which was held in the city earlier in the day.

In the process of stopping the fighting, police arrested Brent Hastings, 33, of Moffat, Ontario, Canada; Esther Lakatos, 27, of Mississanga, Ontario; and Brian Wright, 28, of Medford, Mass., Gloversville Police said.

All were charged with resisting arrest. …
